Taylor's almost 2

In just 26 days my little Taylor will be 2 years old! November thru February is always going to be a busy time from now on. Preparing for the holidays and then planning both girls birthdays. I am happy to report that this Christmas was a success. Taylor got a new kitchen and Payton got her Barbie Dream House, plus many other things to keep them busy during the winter season. We hosted Christmas for the first time and it turned out great, especially with the spring like weather =) Now it is time to start planning Taylor's 2nd birthday!

Taylor baby is making a name for herself. While she can sometimes be the bully and instigate a fight with Payton, she is also quick to defend her. When Daddy is teasing Payton or "trying to get her", Taylor will tell Daddy to "stop". When I tell Taylor no, or take something away, Taylor tells her sister or daddy that "Mommy's mean". Basically, Taylor is always right and everyone else needs to stop or quit being mean.

Dinner time has become a daily struggle. It has always been with Payton because she doesn't want to eat. Taylor usually just makes a big mess. These days, the both of them just wont sit still at the table. I have learned to be a little creative and we usually have some kind of game. Along with the game there is a lot of positive reinforcement going on. Everyone takes a turn taking a bite and once they take a big bite we cheer like they have just saved the world. Some days it works and some days I want to lock myself in a room. We usually have the most success when daddy gets home. Taylor is a daddy's girl and when he gets home and eats, she is right there with him taking his food. Thankfully, daddy likes to share.

Taylor does not like to share her binky. There was a time when Taylor really only needed or wanted it when she slept. When we woke up, she would throw it in her crib and she was fine. These days, if she sees it she wants it, so I do my best to keep it out of site There are times when she will ask for it and scream til she gets it. During the day at Outreach she doesn't have it at all, not even for her nap. The goal is to keep her busy during the day so she doesn't ask for it or see it and just use it at night for the next month. At some point in the next few months we will come up with a creative way to get rid of them and suffer through bed time for a few days/weeks so we can be binky free. I am absolutely not looking forward to that!

Speaking of bed time, the crib might be another hurdle for us to deal with soon. Payton likes to show Taylor all the things she shouldn't do, like climbing in and out of the crib. Thankfully, Taylor can't do it, but that doesn't stop her from trying. This really only happens during the day when we are playing in her room. At night she's too tired to think about climbing out of it, plus she wears a sleep sack that makes it almost impossible to try and swing her legs around. Once we tackle the binky, we can start looking at upgrading her bed.

These girls are growing up fast and we are looking forward to an exciting 2020 full of fun adventures and many amazing memories!
