Gymnastics, Swimming and Dancing...Oh My!

The threenager stage has given us a run for our money. Payton knows just the right buttons to push and loves to be difficult. We don't agree a lot, she does the opposite of everything I ask and bedtime is my least favorite time of the day. She has energy for days and we had to find some outlets for all of it.

Gymnastics! Payton has lots of energy to spare so gymnastics was our first choice to give Payton and outlet for all of it. She loves to jump around and does "flips" with her bubba. Gymnastics was Payton's first choice too! I found Kansas City Gymnastics School in Riverside. It was the perfect choice, it was close to her daycare, the class size was smaller, it was 45 minutes and Payton was learning to be a good listener. She is a master at forward rolls, she can do tuck jumps and saddle jumps. Her balance is spot on when she walks the beam. She can do a flip when she hangs on the bar and loves to pull herself up and say "Peekaboo Mommy!" She has had a lot of fun with Gymnastics, but we decided to take a little break to try some other things.

Swim Lessons! This was a must now that summer is here and we will be seeing some pool time. Payton loves the water and Aaron and I want to make sure she is confident in the pool. The Liberty Aquatics Center was having a short 6 week session and Daddy was up for showing Payton how to be a good swimmer. We have been to a few sessions and she is learning the basics. She loves to kick and her favorite is floating on her back. She is still a little hesitant with holding her breath and going under water. She is having a lot of fun spending time with dad.

Dance! You can often find Payton dancing around the house and signing her favorite songs. She is very theatrical and has a big personality so when we asked her about dance lessons she immediately said yes. There are a lot of choices out there, but I found Ibsen Dance Theatre and they had a summer session for us to try out. She had her first session last week and I think it was a little overwhelming for her at first. I was nervous! She was just standing there watching everyone else...soooo not Payton's style. It took about 15 minutes and finally she was up there tapping with the rest of the girls. She didn't have her tap or ballet shoes yet and that was the first thing she asked me for after class ended. Luckily, my mom found a pair of tap shoes at the thrift store. Once she put them on, she didn't want to take them off! Next Tuesday is going to be a fun lesson, now that she will have shoes like all the rest of the girls.

Love this girl and all her personality. As Aaron always says, thank goodness she's adorable!
