Birthday Girl

My little Payton Alaina is two years old. My blond hair, blue eyed girl is becoming a big girl. She is the most amazing thing in my world and I love her so much. I am so glad she was able to enjoy a weekend of fun and celebration for her 2nd Birthday.

Birthday celebrations actually began Thursday evening with her cousin Genavieve. Jordan and Erin brought her over so the girls could play, have some pizza and enjoy a little cupcake. I love that Payton has a cousin around her age that she can play with. They did puzzles and danced around. They both really loved the cupcakes, Payton enjoyed the icing the most. It was nice they got to see each other since Genavieve wasn't going to be able to make it to her actual party. It was a bit of a late night for both of them, but I know they had a good time and I am really glad Jordan and Erin made the drive up north to spend time with us.

Payton went to daycare on Friday and I brought mini cupcakes for the kids to enjoy, plus a few extra for the teachers =) I know Payton really loves her friends and it was nice to see that her class enjoyed her birthday with her. She got her own special birthday crown and enjoyed another cupcake. Outreach Christian Education is such a great place and I am so thankful that they made Payton feel special on her birthday. She has made a lot of friends there and has great relationships with all of her teachers. As a mom it makes it so much easier everyday knowing your child is loved and is having fun learning. Thank you for spoiling my little girl on her 2nd Birthday.

Finally the big day arrived! Saturday morning she woke up and I sang her Happy Birthday. She really wasn't as excited as I was and tried to sing Happy Birthday to me instead. I reminded her it was her day and we were going to have a big party and she was not happy about that. Throughout the morning we video called both Nana and Papa and Nanny and Pop Pop. Both sang to her and again she just wasn't excited about it. I knew things would change once she saw all her presents and her Elmo cake.

I didn't realize birthday parties could be so stressful and this really wasn't anything fancy. Thankfully, I had my mom to help and she reserved space at Kelso's in the Northland for a Sesame Street Pizza Party. We kept it small and invited family to spend a couple of hours with us. I let everyone gather in the room and then Aaron brought Payton in. You could tell she was very confused and overwhelmed, we were close to tears. It took her a few moments to warm up, but once she started recognizing everyone she was smiling and talking. She bounced around a little and said hi, we all enjoyed the delicious pizza and then it was time for...presents!

Payton was spoiled with lots of things she needed and didn't know she wanted. Clothes were a big hit along with some new shoes. She loved all her new bracelets and necklaces. There was some fun activity books along with a set of blocks to play with. One of her favorite gifts was her mini Frozen jukebox with a microphone. Her face would light up every time she opened a gift. She smiled and said thank you to everyone. It turned out to be a really great birthday.

I love my family and I am so thankful Payton is going to get to grow up and know them all. I have been working on a time capsule for her and I am really excited about how it is turning out. I appreciate that both Aaron's family and my family filled out letters for her so she can read them once she graduates. I put her first converse shoes in there along with her hospital bracelet and her first little beanie that she wore at the hospital. There is a map of our neighborhood and the city of Liberty to show how it looks now. I have a copy of the newspaper from that day along with a People magazine. There is a USB drive with some of my favorite videos and photos of her up to know. I have a video of what our house looks like and kind of a day in the life. I am excited to have these memories ready for her so she can look back when she graduates. It's been fun putting it together.

Now we are working on making lots more memories and today we will start with her first visit to Sprint Center to see Sesame Street Live. I can't wait! More blogs to come.

  1. I love you Payton and I am so happy you enjoyed your special day. You are growing up so much and you continue to make us laugh and appreciate all you are learning. I wish all of us could have been at your party but sometimes it is hard to get everyone together at the same time. I sure liked your presents you received too. So many pretty clothes and so many fun things to do. You are so special and love that you are so loveable.
